Why would setting no playback device when sound card is there

My Windows XP Dell Inspiron E1505 has two log ins. One of them audio works, the other , it does'nt. When I look at the control panel under the log in that has no sound, under audio, it says no device found, its grayed out. Any suggestion or solutions? I know the sound card works very well on the other login.

are the drivers installed in the device manager in the profile that has no audio?

yes, it shows SigmaTel Audio

the profile that has audio shows SigmaTel Audio, and the other one shows blank- no audio device detected
