Wifi is not working on acer laptop

Hello,
i am using acer 4730z the problem i am facing tht is i am unable to connect to the wifi network , the driver is installed but whn i switched on wifi , i can see lan icon also, its workless, pls help

Ensure that you are in range of a wireless router, i.e. can you see the router after turning on the wifi? How far away is the router from the laptop?
