I have a Dell XPS which has what I believe to be a headphone combo jack, as there is only one input jack with a headset symbol.
Will purchasing a headphone splitter (such as this: http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Speaker-and-Headphone-Splitter/dp/B000067RC4/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1463243070&sr=1-1&keywords=headphone+splitter) allow me to plug in a normal speaker and mic headphone into it, and will the system recognize the two?
Currently, I can use the headset only (no mic) and a built-in microphone, but it picks up everything, including the laptop fan and keyboard typing noises.
Another alternative I have is to purchase a USB headset - but before I do that I wanted to know if I am able to use a headphone splitter instead and save the money spent on getting a new headset, as I already have a headset with mic combo.
