Will Astro Mixamp work with Sennheiser HD 598?

Hello, so I don't know much about audio stuff but I recently bought a Sennheiser HD 598 for gaming mainly on consoles and I see people recommend using it with an Astro Mixamp.

If I use the Astro Mixamp with my Sennheiser HD 598, will I get the 7.1 surround through the HD 598?

And what setup would have better sound quality,

Astro headset with Astro Mixamp

or

Sennheiser HD 598 with Astro Mixamp?

Yes it will. I have the same (HD 598 + astro mix amp) setup for my Xbox one.
I mostly play competitive FPS's like halo and BF, and i can hear footsteps, reloads, pins being pulled from granates from miles away. I highly recommend it.
Only downside is it doesnt have a mic, but i use my kinect for that.
