Will hooking a nintendo 64 up to a new plasma screen mess the tv up?

will hooking a nintendo 64 up to a new plasma screen mess the tv up? im thinking about buying a play station 1 and a nintendo 64 and i don't want it to destroy my new plasma 3D tv. I heard hooking old game systems up to new model tvs could hurt them. Does anyone know if this is true or not?
