[citation][nom]orderchaos[/nom]I want the device on the taskbar and (not mentioned here) I want a mac-like feature to have several "pages" of desktops...those with macs know what I mean, for those who don't:You have a set or variable (macs have set 4) different pages that each hold different windows that are currently open.Using these windows you can automatically make the ones on the inactive desktops background tasks and have much more screen real estate with the same size screen. This is really the only feature that I absolutely love about macs...other than this feature I consider them to be overpriced and rigid (i.e. not plug and play with new hardware such as video cards or mobos, et cetera.)I understand That Apple has this patented, but it wouldn't be the first time one company has taken the idea (or product) of another and adapted it (or flat out stolen it) to fit theirs...Especially not for Microsoft.[/citation]
If you want multiple desktops in Windows, go here:

Note: This is the new version. Previously, WinXP had a powertoy that had similar functionality.

[citation][nom]Baladen[/nom]Here's the old WinXP powertoy page. The Desktop manager is near the bottom at the right.http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp [...] rtoys.mspx[/citation]
And here's a third party VDM: http://www.codeplex.com/vdm

And if you bought Stardock's Object Desktop, it also has a very nice VDM that supports up to 25 desktops (you can also buy it standalone, but why would you?): http://www.stardock.com/products/vwm/

And if you want the effect of Bat Signal without the lighting effects, hover over an icon in the Windows 7 taskbar to get thumbnail previews and then hover over the preview you want to get just that window open on screen.
