Windows 8 INACESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

Hi,

I recently bought an ASUS K56CA laptop with a core i5-3something or other.

I was merging the OS partition and the empty DATA partition into one, when suddenly my task/super/uber bar (whatever its called, the bar at the bottom xD) vanished and my system BSOD'd (with a sad smiley) with something like CRITICAL_SERVICE_STOPPED or something.

Now, when my system turns on, it says "your PC needs to be repaired. Use recovery disks blah blah blah"

"Ok!", I thought, "I know, I just hold F9 when turning it on to access the recovery partition."

I do so, and it seems to ignore that I'm holding F9. Balls.

Holds 0, the universal recovery key. Doesn't work. Arse.

My Laptop didn't come with Windows 8 installation disks or recovery DVD's, and it doesn't seem like you can order recovery CD's from their website.

I tried all the F8 startup options, including disable automatic restart on system failure, and it gave me the code "INACESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE."

I downloaded an .iso of a windows 8 x64 installation disk(if it doesn't come with a product key, which it didn't, I'm not cheating Microsoft out of money), so I could use start up repair, but my old laptop cant burn to DVD+R's.

I'm really upset as my dads gonna kill me if he finds out I've broken it within a week, and for any help given I will be extremely grateful.

ASUS haven't replied yet, so I'm turning to you guys

Why did merge the partitions of the drive, were you aware that the recovery and installation resided on the second partition of the drive. because what you did was completely wipe it out.
Asus will tell you this when they get back to you no doubt. The very fact that the F9 factory restore of windows 8 does not work tells you this as it would of pointed to drive D: for example now it does not exist it falls over, so you likely have one Hd listed as C:
You should of left it alone TBH, but you have learned a lesson that will cost you more time to fix and probably forking out some more money.

So why was it that the D:\ partition was empty, and there was another partition called recovery?

Either way, as it's less than a week old, I'm taking it back to the Tesco's that I bought it from, and I'm getting it exchanged.
