Wondering how to cast a previously downloaded movie, which I can watch on my desktop using the VLC Media Player, over to my TV

Hello: Can anyone tell me how to cast a downloaded movie from my desktop (windows 7 & Google Chrome) to my Sony 4k ultra hi-def TV? I am able to watch the movie on my desktop using the VLC Media Player with no problem. However I see no place on the screen when the movie is playing to cast it over to my TV. Conversely if I stop the movie and go to my browser, I can cast the screen to the TV using the Miracast feature which is built into the TV.
In conclusion how do I cast the movie to the TV from my desktop?
