I got a new laptop yesterday, and I was thinking about getting Sims 3 for my laptop because it is cheap ($20 on origin) and I was wondering if it would run.

My laptop is an HP 255 G5, it is $350 and these are the specs

It can, but you can get a much better laptop for $350. I actually recommend you return it for a refund and purchase the following Acer laptop with a Core i3-7100u and Intel HD 620 graphics core. The laptop you have has the AMD E2-7110 APU with a Radeon R2 (Beema) graphics core. The i3-7100u and Intel HD 620 is not particularly powerful, but the AMD E2-7100 and Radeon R2 pathetic in comparison.

It has a 1080p screen and it will be able to play the Sims 3 in 1080p with max settings. However, it only has 4GB of RAM so playing at that resolution might cause the game to crash because you may run...

However, it only has 4GB of RAM so playing at that resolution might cause the game to crash because you may run out of RAM. Windows uses RAM, the Sims 3 uses RAM and so does the Intel HD 620. I recommend you purchase and install and additional 4GB of RAM for a total of 8GB. Two sticks of RAM will allows the Intel HD 620 to provide about 10% - 15% more performance in games. You can always purchase the RAM later, but it currently sells for only $25.

Here is a Windows performance review of the Acer laptop. There is also a link to a playlist of other videos demonstrating the installation of more RAM and games (no Sims 3).

Here's the Sims 4 playing on a different laptop with a 1366x768 resolution screen, but with the same Core i3-7100u CPU with the integrated Intel HF 620. It does have 2 sticks of 4GB RAM for a total of 8GB.
