Would this laptop be sufficient for gaming/programming/school work?

The specifications look rather appealing, especially that quad core APU. However, the only potential deterrent is the 1.5GHz clock speed.

Would it still be worth the price tag?

my guess is that it can't be that good because even Radeon HD 7640G only scored 704 in 3DMark 11.

7540g2 is a name for AMD dual graphics. This specific one is combining the integrated graphics of the APU (6520g) with a dedicated graphics card (7450M in this case) and utilizing AMD's hybrid crossfire to split the load between the two. This process offers increased performance over just using one or the other but often causes micro stuttering due to the two graphics types not being identical as you would normally crossfire or sli.

the early 7000m series are just rebrands of the 6000m series(rebranding being just a name change, little to no change) in order to find out what you can hybrid crossfire with, use notebookcheck and look up background history of the gpu. it usually tells you what gpum it is a rebrand of.

You are not missing anything, I clearly misread the information on the site that I posted. You are correct there is nothing on there about 7540g2. And much like yourself, I am having a hell of a time locating any information about it other than links to laptops that have it. I'll keep looking, I owe you an answer =)

The more I look into it the more I feel like it has to be a mis print. There is only one laptop for sale with this particular card. There are 13 graphics cards with g2 at the end. And the highest one that AMD has is the 6775G2. In fact doing a simpler search for Radeon HD 7000G2 Series results in nothing. I dont even think they made them. All I can think is that it is a Llano A6 chip with its integrated graphics combined with a dedicated 7670m but since I can not find anything to back it up that is only my speculation.
