The idea of a device being smaller than your fingernail is now being forgotten. We are now moving back toward the concept of 3-pound, bigger-than-your-pocket phones.

I thought my 4.5" samsung galaxy s2, was sweet spot, but every time I pick up a larger screen it looks even better, like the galaxy note or galaxy nexus. iphones current screen looks pitiful today.

So I hope apple at least does 4.3" cause 4" size is where low-end android devices compete.

Well, 3.5" might have been a monster display back in the day, but nowadays it's eclipsed by the 5" devices, for good or worse. I don't endorse anything larger than 4.2" however.

Samsung make the best displays avialable, period. Apple shit in the nest when they sued Samsung, hence the iPhone 5 will suffer from a substandard display. fact. The size is immaterial, if it isn't AMOLED it is second rate.

I have an Android phone, but my wife wants to get an iPhone and I am interested in seeing what is going on with the iPhone 5 so I can decide if she should wait for the 5 or just get a 4S. I work on PCs and technology 45 hours a week, I know my stuff, but it's still good to know about as much as you can, including Apple. Some people need to get off their high horse, because Anti-Apple people are almost as annoying as Apple users.

I am an android user, and even though I dont plan on owning iphone, it is what my less-tech savvy wife wants. So just for her sake I hope they increase screen size, cause current screen is not ideal.

Upping the screen size is a good thing. My HTC Mozart has a bigger screen than the current iPhone. Not sure how people work with the smaller one

I have an Associate Degree in Information Technology-Network Specialist and CompTIA Net+ certified. I'm soon to get my CCNA. And I have an Iphone. You know why I got an Iphone, because it works!! And it works well!! No I'm not tech savvy at all cause I own an Apple product.

I own both Windows and Apple products. They both have there place. People like you make me sick. You need to open your horizon and experience more then just Windows.

meh.... A phone is supposed to be something you have in your pocket without ever noticing it. 3,5" is a great compromise.

4.0" diagonale would make the phone about 30% bigger than 3,5".
4,5" diagonale would make the phone about 65% bigger than 3.5".
And what do you use all that display real estate for? So you can check your mails slightly better?

I think it's great that apple has decided to up the screen size. Typing on that tiny screen was agony.
