Solved! Yamaha receiver plays and stops for a few seconds

I have a old Yamaha HTR-5940 with bose speakers. When playing music, it will play for maybe 5 min, maybe 30 seconds and the sub will make a pop noise and stop playing for 5 seconds and resume. Even when not playing music, the sub will pop randomly. It worked great yesterday. Any ideas?

may have same issue my old unit had. see if there dust causing an over heat. if the unit out of warranty open it up and look for any leaking caps or burnt spots. my old unit had leaking caps.
