Yamaha/Samsung Arc Problems

I have a Yamaha RX-V683 Receiver and a Samsung smart tv. I am trying to use the ARC but am getting no sound. The best I get is for the cable box sound to stop when I try to run the Netflix app but no audio from the Tv. All the HDMI cables are high speed. ARC is activated on both the tv and the receiver. How do I troubleshoot this?

Have you assigned ARC to one of the inputs on the receiver? Did you turn the TV speakers off?
If you can't get it working an optical cable should work just as well.

Thanks for the response. I have tried setting the arc input to a variety of options on the receiver but none seem to work. I haven’t tried shutting the volume off on the tv, is that in the settings somewhere? Optical cable is not ideal as the tv is wall mounted and the wall plate has HDMI only
