How do I Change the Billing Date on My Netflix Account

Sometimes it can happen that our budget priorities may change or that we may change jobs and get paid on different days of the month and this may affect the various bills we have to pay. If you’re a Netflix user and you find yourself in this predicament, the bad news is that you won’t be able to change your billing date from your account as the Netflix billing date corresponds with the day you signed up for the account. For example, if you signed up for the account on the 3rd of September then from every month onwards, your account is billed on the 3rd of every month.

The good news is that while you can’t change your billing date, you can cancel your membership, restart the membership then sign up on a day that would be good for you to be billed on. And we promise it’s not as tedious as it sounds. In fact, it can be done all under five minutes. Here are steps on how to do this:

1. Log in to Your Netflix Account
Go to the far right-hand side of the screen and click on the “sign in” option. This step requires you to enter your username and password.

4. Finish Cancellation
After clicking on “Cancel Membership”, then click on the “Finish cancellation” option. If you still have some time left in your billing cycle, Netflix will then provide you with a date of when the cancellation will be effective as well as the last day you will be able to access Netflix and still watch your favorite television shows and series before the membership is cancelled. A new screen will pop up after you have cancelled the membership and it will ask you to tick a box on why you are cancelling your account as in the image below:

The company will also send you an email confirming cancellation of the membership. Please note that your membership may be restarted again at any time and that Netflix will save your viewer preferences for up to ten months after your membership cancellation. (It is important to note that if your Netflix account is on hold, your membership cancellation will be effective immediately and you can then restart your account at any time)

6. Restarting Your Account
Be sure to wait until the date you would like to be billed on for your Netflix account before restarting your membership. For example, if you want to be billed on the 31st of every month, and you will need to make sure that this is the date you restart your Netflix account. Restarting your account will require you to follow the following steps:
  • ■ Visit www.netflix .com and follow steps 1 to 3 again as listed above.
    ■ Once you’re in your account, under the membership and billing tab, you will see a link written “Restart Membership” in the place where it used to be “Cancel Membership”.
    ■ Upon clicking on that link, your account will automatically be restarted and the date you restarted it on, will be your new billing date.
    ■ Also note that Netflix, will save your show lists and viewing preferences for up to 10 months after you cancelled your membership, making it easier for you not to start from scratch with all your favorite shows. The company will also send you an email confirming that you restarted your account.
