How to Get a Google Voice Number

Using Google Voice allows you to give out you Google Voice Number rather than your cell phone number. Google voice will forward any messages or phone calls made to your Google Voice Number to your cell phone or house phone.

Step 1: Log into your Google account on the Google Voice Website. You will also have the option to create an account if you don’t have one. (Be sure to agree to the terms and conditions).

Step 2: You can either use your current phone number or choose to use a new one. To choose a new one, click on the option “I want a new number.”

Step 3: Chose a new number and click “continue.” You can narrow down your search by entering your area code.

Step 4: Set up a PIN number for your Google Voice Number.

Step 5: Chose a phone number you wish to associate with your Google Voice Number. This will be the phone that is notified when somebody tries to call your Google Voice Number.

Step 6: You will be asked to verify your phone.

Recap: Your new Google number is capable of working with up to six different phones. You can even have it forward phone calls to your landline. Google Voice allows you to make free phone calls within the United States and Canada. If you ever want to change your Google Voice Number in the future, you will be required to pay a fee.
