How to Get Back to Home Screen in iPhone X

The main purpose of the Home button in older iPhones was to bring the users back to the Home screen regardless of the window they were working on. However, unlike previous models, iPhone X has no Home button, and therefore many features and actions that relied on it can now be performed using other buttons, a combination of buttons, or by tapping the screen.
If you are new to iPhone X and have no clue as how to get back to the Home screen, this tutorial is for you.
Instead of Home button, iPhone X has Gesture Bar; a thick line at the bottom of the screen. As was the case with the Home button, the Gesture Bar is a multipurpose point that can be used for Reachability, to get back to the Home screen, get to App Switcher, and even to navigate among the opened apps and windows.
Here’s how you can use Gesture Bar to get to the Home screen in iPhone X:
From the Lock Screen
    Get to the lock screen
Tap your iPhone X’s screen, raise the phone in your hand, or press the Sleep/Wake button. Any of the three methods wakes the phone to the lock screen.

    Get to the Home screen

Swipe up the Gesture Bar from the bottom of the lock screen. This takes you to the Home screen.
Note: If you’ve set up Face ID, the process of unlocking the phone is seamless, and from there you can swipe up the Gesture Bar to get to the Home screen. If your Face ID fails, providing the passcode does the same thing.

From an Opened Window
    Get to the Home screen

Swipe up the Gesture Bar from the bottom of the opened window. This reduces the size of the window while animating it back to its corresponding icon, thus taking you back to the Home screen.
