How to Setup Netflix on Roku

The days of waiting for a DVD to arrive are over. Now you can stream directly to your home TV through the Roku set top box. Once you’ve set it up, you are free to enjoy the numerous movies and TV shows available on Netflix, all with the convenience of streaming direct to your living room. A few basic steps will help you set up Netflix on your Roku box.

1. Search the TV for the video and audio connection
Search your TV for the video and audio connection. Older generation televisions have composite or component cables, while HDTVs use connectors with HDMI cables. If you need to connect audio on your old generation TV, you will need to have composite cables. Video connection also requires these.

2. Insert the corresponding cables in to your Roku and TV
Once you have the right cables, plug the corresponding ones into the TV set and your Roku. Insert the network cable to the network port of your Roku to aid in a wired connection, though some modern Roku boxes can connect via Wi-Fi. The opposite end of your cable should be connected on the network port of the router. If you are using wireless connections, you will need to use a security password and a network name once everything is turned on.

3. Turn the Roku and TV on for the set up process to start
Turn on your TV and Roku for the start of the set up process. Depending on your preference and the network you are using, you can choose wireless or wired for your network connection. If you choose wireless, you will be prompted to enter the username and password. You cannot proceed from here if you do not have an account and password.
Once you have entered the information, your choice of network will proceed to the password and network name screen, before accessing your home network. Your set up process will only be complete once the network reboots and accepts your network name and password. Modern Roku boxes will redirect you to a page that helps you to set up an account if you do not have one.
