Look in the programs and features menu. See if anything has the same installation date. If so, it may have snuck in at the same time. If it's on the root of C and D, that's not a normal file. You can scan them with malwarebytes, but I would just delete them.

Simply unplug and move. Assuming you didn't do something crazy, like install windows to it, external media is plug and play.

Try creating a new local user profile, and see if the problem follows. A lot of times the infection can reside within the user profile.

Right, but what is the model of that device? If you're hardwired into it, you shouldn't see such sweeping changes in network speeds.

Are you hard wired into the router? What is the model of the device you're connected to?
