    Try using a different USB port. You might be getting static. Could be noise or a short in your tower somewhere.

    I personally use Lastpass as a plug in. The Passwords would be stored on the local computer, and most likely encrypted. I believe Mozilla has a cloud service now, you may be able to create an account on 31, log in and save your passwords, than upgrade and log in again...
