Yeah and HP says its because the battery is bad and even though it is charging if the battery is bad it can cause this but I just wasn't sure

Ok on my HP 255 g5 notebook when I power off my computer and cut it back on it comes on for a split second and goes right back off then the battery drains fast. I feel like the battery should be replaced due to it draining so fast but could it be causing my computer to come on and go right back...
