battery drains fast

Ok on my HP 255 g5 notebook when I power off my computer and cut it back on it comes on for a split second and goes right back off then the battery drains fast. I feel like the battery should be replaced due to it draining so fast but could it be causing my computer to come on and go right back off even on charge it does this?

Does it do this when you have the computer plugged in?

Yeah and HP says its because the battery is bad and even though it is charging if the battery is bad it can cause this but I just wasn't sure

The battery allows you to use the laptop without having it plugged in. If you honestly wanted to, you could have no battery in as long as its plugged in.

Maybe your charging cable is bad?

Are you able to go into the BIOS on your laptop? (most laptops is pushing F2 right away on start up)

yeah I took the battery out and still had it plugged up and it still did that which is why I am kind of wondering if the battery has anything to do with my computer doing this. I am using it for school and I won't turn it off anymore because I finally got it back up and I don't want to take the chance of it not coming back on period and then I wouldn't be able to do school work.
