Canon powershot s1 no viewfinder picture

Try that display button at the bottom. I don't have this thing I just pulled up the button diagram and I'd give that a shot first. When you use the screen instead of the eyepiece that is called live view so look for something like that in the menus if the display button doesn't do it.

Looking to get a DSLR, and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Hi I'm new here and I'm a photographer so I figured I pay my way forward some by sharing what I know in a few threads. Get hundred dollar rebel from ebay and a 50mm 1.8. Spend no more than $200. This is for Canon, for Nikon get the equivalent. OK, for brands the rule I live by is that canon...

    TIFF v RAW

You can't shoot TIFFs in camera. In Camera you cam shoot RAWs or Jpgs. Raws are the proprietary file types for each maker. Canon uses cr2, cr1, etc. I think Nikon uses nef files. These are the files that are images and numbers as the camera saw them. Most software can not read these files...

Should I get the Cannon Rebel T3i?

Hi I'm new here and I'm a photographer so I figured I pay my way forward some by sharing what I know in a few threads. IF that is the high end of your budget save it. Get a used Rebel. I believe the T2i was the first with video. I would shoot a pro gig with a 5 year old rebel if I needed to. No...

Hi I'm new here and I'm a photographer so I figured I pay my way forward some by sharing what I know in a few threads. The biggest thing that manual does is to let you control the "Holy Trinity" for photographers. ISO, Aperture, Shutter. When a camera is on automatic and you shot in low light...

    SAFARI LENSES

Hi I'm new here and I'm a photographer so I figured I pay my way forward some by sharing what I know in a few threads. It depends on your budget. What is probably the best bet is to rent a real serious lens for the trip. Just a few thoughts: The lens you have is probably plastic and has an...

What\'s the story on expensive memory cards for SLR cameras?

Hi I'm new here and I'm a photographer so I figured I pay my way forward some by sharing what I know in a few threads. With memory cards the thing you pay for most is the speed. I shoot sports and can easily go through 15,000 shutters a weekend. I used several 4 gig cards. The speed is affected...
