Chrome is already fully updated

I am watching youtube videos in google chrome on my macbook. The video is lagging so much that it freezes every 2-3 seconds and is out of sync the whole time. This has been happening for a while now and is sometimes worse than others. My flash is fully updated so its not that. It is unbearable...
