Laptop wont boot/recognize HDD or SDD

HDD/SSD should have 2 cables, 1 for data and 1 for power. Since you are using a laptop these may be combined into a singe connector with 2 cables coming out of it. Anyway, you need both the data and the power cable connected for your HDD to work.

Optical Desktop Speaker Set for under/around $100

It should be mentioned that s/pdif, either via optical toslink cable or coaxial cable, does not have the bandwidth to output uncompressed surround sound. This means that s/pdif can only output 4.1/5.1 sound that has been compressed or encoded, usually in some Dolby or DTS format. Why does this...

That Samsung set is not the best option for what you want. It was hard to find images of how these speakers were connected, but from the looks of it they all connect up to the bluray player using specialized ports, with the bluray player acting as a sort of make shift receiver. Basically, this...

Need a work-around for TV with no headphone input

Most TVs have an Audio Out connection, usually in the form of a Digital toslink or coaxial cable connection. According to Amazon, your TV should have coaxial digital audio output on the back. If it is not labeled as "Audio Out" it may be labled as "S/PDIF Out". You will need to connect a...

    Oculus/vive alternative for cheap.

Google Cardboard is probably the only real cheap VR alternative. That's probably not the answer you are looking for, but it's the only way to get reasonably priced VR for now. If all you want to do is experiment with VR a bit, then I suggest you get yourself a cheap viewer and maybe use that...

My elderly mom gets the most viruses and crapware anything to childproof a pc

Create a normal user account for her instead of an admin account; though that means that you will have to install programs for her whenever she wants anything installed. Also, buy her a decent security suite. I'm partial to Eset. Kaspersky is good too. Don't bother with Symantec or MacAfee...

I bought an hdmi to dvi converter, but I cant get sound from the 3.5 mm out port. Why?

This probably has to do with how the audio is being output from the PS4. Go into your PS4s settings and set it to output only stereo audio. Chances are right now you have it outputting 5.1 PCM or Dolby/DTS bitstreamed audio, which the 3.5mm jack wouldn't be able to output. That device also...

I bought an hdmi to dvi converter, but I cant get sound from the 3.5 mm out port. Why?

You're not giving us enough information as to what is connected to where on the converter. Long story short, HDMI and DVI use the same signal format for digital video, they are just wired differently, so they technically don't have to be "converted." DVI, however, does not output audio. You're...

why woud my stalker install and uninstall every security/antivirus program on the market onto my pc before it was given to me

Considering that he gave you the laptop specifically because your old one didn't have a webcam, he likely installed a remote administration tool on your laptop so that he could watch you remotely through the webcam without your knowledge. Like unksol said, all the antivirus installs were...

    Headphones under $100

I'm fond of the Sony MDR-7506 and the Sony MDR-v6 (the 7506s are the higher end version of the v6s). The wirecutter recommends the MDR-7506 as well, and right now you can get them for $85 on Amazon. http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/the-best-150-over-ear-headphones/ Don't bother with the...
