Thanks for your input. I have narrowed down my choices to two and decided to go the passive route. I am thinking about either the Sony SSCS5 or the Elac Debut B5's. Both are around the $150 mark per pair and don't want to go much more expensive than that. I'll add a subwoofer down the road...
