Archived from groups: alt.tv.tech.hdtv (More info?) I have Samsung hdtv ready direct view 27" TV, and couple of months ago, picture went bad (posterized, on a grayscale, some lighter shades very dark, some darker light), but only when I used 480p output from Sony DVD player. IT WORKED NORMAL...
