I have Samsung hdtv ready direct view 27" TV, and couple of months ago,
picture went bad (posterized, on a grayscale, some lighter shades very
dark, some darker light), but only when I used 480p output from Sony
DVD player. IT WORKED NORMAL BEFORE!!! I checked picture with the other
DVD players, but it was always bad with 480p and normal with 480i
output. With a waranty expired and no chance to fix it, I just
continued to use 480i only. But couple days before, I connected XBOX to
my TV with HD cables and set it up for all (480p, 720p and 1080i),
played "Enter the Matrix" (1080i), "Top Spin"(480p), etc. and it worked
fine. A little darker picture, but no posterization, good colors...I
tried my DVD player again, bad... So, is there any reason that my TV
like XBOX and not DVD player. BTW, I tried with couple cables, couple
DVD players, set it up correctly, and like I said, it WORKED for before
with my Sony. Is there any difference between 480p game signal and 480p
DVD signal?

No, I tried other two DVD players, but I'll try that too, just to be
sure.
Thank you

Probable artifacting due to compression or processor techniques within the
DVD. <
