Question Dell Precision 16 7680 vs Lenovo P16 Gen 3 vs other contenders? — the best bang for your buck for office/business/logistic/investment work/etc.

See here: https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/scr/laptops/appref=16-inch-screen-size,1-tb-hard-drive-size,32-gb-memory You really don't need 64GB of memory for the stated uses. 32GB is more than enough. Several 16 inch models available. Lenovo has some decent offerings as well...

I suggest looking at the actual Dell site provided earlier. The one you linked is indeed nice, but seems overkill for the stated purposes. Still if that meets the need and budget, then go for it. You seem stuck on a workstation class system. We'll see what others come along and recommend.

Question Dell Precision 16 7680 vs Lenovo P16 Gen 3 vs other contenders? — the best bang for your buck for office/business/logistic/investment work/etc.

As previously discussed, Dell is not a bad option. Does your brother have a preference on screen size? Aside from "fast CPU" and 64GB of memory, you haven't given us much to go on. Are battery life, portability, local storage (I recommend getting 2TB) major considerations? Have you looked at...

Question Dell Precision 16 7680 vs Lenovo P16 Gen 3 vs other contenders? — the best bang for your buck for office/business/logistic/investment work/etc.

If I calculated correctly, that is roughly $4000 US. That is way more than needed. A very good laptop for $1000-1500 US should be more than enough. From what sites/sources do you use for ordering tech?

Then why consider the additional expense of a workstation class laptop? Just get a consumer model. Likely have better battery life and less weight to lug around. You still haven't provided a budget.

Question Dell Precision 16 7680 vs Lenovo P16 Gen 3 vs other contenders? — the best bang for your buck for office/business/logistic/investment work/etc.

I have owned 4 Precisions, personally, and 2 Lenovos (I have one of these right now, but AMD based) and used several HPs in a professional capacity. The most durable/well built, in general, were the Dells. All of them far outlasted the normal lifespan of a consumer laptop. Of those 4, all...

    Can't keep screen on

There are apps that supposedly help with this (I haven't used any), like this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.snapcore.screen_alive&hl=en_US Does your phone have a "smart view" setting?

    Question Problematic Smart Switch

I did, thus the questions. If you can't be bothered to respond, others can't be bothered to help. Kind of how this forum thing works. BTW, as your test bench experience showed everything working properly, your wiring may indeed (as you suggested) be the problem and changing switches may not...

Question Dell Precision 16 7680 vs Lenovo P16 Gen 3 vs other contenders? — the best bang for your buck for office/business/logistic/investment work/etc.

Best is often defined by budget. I have used all three company workstation class laptops to great success. The ones I have been most pleased with were Dells, to be honest. These workstation class systems, can do all the things noted in your original post, and game fairly well too if that ever...
