I figured it out. easy in the end. the replacement battery legs are closer to one side. Soldered it on and seems to keep time. fixed. :spamafote:

The RTC cmos battery on my satelite m100 laptop is dead and its taken so long for the replacement battery to arrive I can't remember which way up its supposed to be soldered on to the motherboard, can someone send me a high res photo of theirs? Specifically i want to see if it has the writing...
