    same proble, I also though it was a driver issue. I read somewhere it could be an issue of static electricity getting stuck in the touchpad... (inspiron 3520). It would make sens it's for me random, it comes and it goes...

    Touchpad not recognized in Device Manager

    I solved that issue by installing the touchpad driver form dell (it did probably unistall the previous one, it now appear in the mouse setting, and I can even disable it using F3). Don't know yet if it solved my jumping cursor issue, though. inspiron 3520
