Solved! How to convert with Switch Sound File Converter

Boy, I was just notified of a response to my query six months after it came in. Tom's Guide is pretty odd in that respect. What made you think I was trying to convert from a lower bit rate to a higher one? Just the opposite. That was long ago. I've given up on Switch and use Audacity.

Solved! How to convert with Switch Sound File Converter

I've used the old version of Switch for many years. I use it to convert .mov to .mp3, and to convert to a small constant bit rate, for economical storage of (talking) audio. Now I've moved up to the new 9.34 version. Looks sweet, BUT, when I do a conversion, no matter what bit rate I specify, it...

    Question cheap 4G phone

I should say that I have verified with Boost that that phone will, in fact, conform to what they call their Expanded Network, which will substitute for their Boost Nationwide Network on January 1, 2021. I'm pretty sure that this is mostly an network upgrade from 3G to 4G, but might be more.

    Question cheap 4G phone

OK, simpleton question here. I have a VERY elderly parent who needs a cell phone for very occasional, mostly emergency use. As in, NOT a smart phone. She has a simple cheap flip-phone that works fine, with a Boost account, but it's 3G, and 3G is going away. Can someone point me to an uber cheap...

    SITs and robocallers

Well, I'll make my own wisdom. I was getting one or two of these robocalls calls a day. I installed a SIT at the beginning of my voicemail message. The manic robocall continued for about a week and then, poof, they were gone. I've gotten ONE robocall in the last two weeks. I would recommend this.

    SITs and robocallers

Hmmm. Not a lot of wisdom here. Turns out, the FTC says that this strategy "may" help. See https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/media/video-0086-robocall-challenge-consumer-tips-tricks "EXPERIMENT WITH SPECIAL INFORMATION TONES. YOU KNOW THOSE THREE-NOTE SPECIAL INFORMATION TONES THAT SIGNAL A...

    SITs and robocallers

It is alleged that if you prepend your phone answer message with a "non-functional" SIT (Special Information Tone), robocallers will hear the tone, and automatically drop your number from their contact list. That's easily done. The question is whether it really works. Does it? See...
