i dont know but the same thing happened to my toshiba. except i dont know about the hooking it up to a monitor. most likely a screen replace is my thought.....

well alienware runs hot so go with a cooling pad. and for asus its the same exact thing just more RAM and 1 TB HDD... so basicly i think go with cheaper one. alienware M17X is the #1 Gaming Laptop on many reviews. so if you want what reviews say go with alienware. alienware is also a name brand...
