More than likely this is what is going on. That USB Boot drive is set as a Legacy/MBR boot drive and not a uEFI boot drive. Go into your motherboard. Look for CSM Support (usually under boot settings) and enable CSM Support. I bet you will probably see the USB drive then.

^^ Yup that is what i was looking for as well. But if you have no ARC then you can't do what you are trying to do without some kind of Audio out form the TV to the AMP/Receiver.

If there is NO audio output form the TV to the Receiver (HDMI is from the receiver to the TV) and you are playing a USB drive off the TV there is no way for the audio to get to the receiver in the first place unless you had a receiver that could accept a 5.1 input which it sounds like it can't...

You can clone your existing drive to the external or use Macrium Reflect to make backups that can be restored. The clone though WILL allow you to boot right off of it.

If you are going to use it as a daily driver then helllzz no. If you need it to run some other program or something else, go out, buy a second router, place it behind your exiting one, and hook it up to that. At least this way it will be on a different subnet that your normal stuff and give you...
