One further piece of information. I still have the original Apple earbuds that came with the iPod. There's no bass to them at all; but I do get sound from both sides on all three devices, so I don't think it a 'jack" problem. Thanks

Thank you for your response. I use the earbuds on three different devices: primarily to listen to my iPod, a fifth generation, classic; then on my computer speakers (cheapy Altec Lansing's) and an even more cheapy Coby radio. Don't know the earbud brands---got them at WalMart, but not...
