That IS HOT! If you have experience with opening laptops, open it up and clear the dust off fans and motherboard. Re-apply the thermal paste as well. If you don't have experience, I recommend you take it to a trusted Laptop repair shop. There is YouTube videos showing where the fan is located...

Windows XP is vulnerable to attacks as Microsoft do not officially support it anymore so I recommend you stay on the Windows 7 boat for a while. Solandri is absolutely correct; add more RAM to have a total of 4GB and if possible, purchase an SSD. The performance boost will be quite noticeable.

Hmm, maybe DRAM is ineffective? Not sure but first try reinstalling GPU drivers.

The lenovo would be better simply becuase of it's faster clock speed. It also has GDDR5 graphics which is the newer type of graphics. Definetely choose the Lenovo.
