Good options for recycling old TVs and gadgets?

Google up " local ewaste recycling" there will probably be some company that will take it off your hands, most likely for free. There are also likely seasonal ewaste events as well so check your local news. You can also check your city/county website as they will probably also have information...

i9 Cores in Laptops, think it's worth it?

Apple could make a slightly beefier sized laptop to properly support chips of that strength if they wanted to. If you need power like that, and are a Mac user, you probably aren't doing a lot of traveling with your laptop.

AMD A4 9120 performance in minecraft

I can't give you a great estimate, because Minecraft doesn't have a built in benchmark, because the game doesn't have any consistent gameplay. But you can see how the GPU in that chip performs with other common games here: https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-R2-Stoney-Ridge.182721.0.html...

What are you buying on Prime Day?

Depends if it's junk or not. I know they're gonna have alot of stuff I can't use like big household appliances, but they're also supposed to have some Samsung Evo m.2 ssds that I don't need... But kind of sort of want? There's good deals on Amazon products like, so maybe I'll pickup another...

Discussion Thread: Heat Tolerance and Heat Prevention in Laptops

Cooling pads aren't really necessary, just a simple mesh or ventilated laptop stand, so the laptop is off the table/desk/bed and the fans on the bottom can get air works wonders.

What is the Best Show or Movie to Stream?

The Man in the High Castle on Amazon is pretty good. Netflix has a ton of Korean shows that you can use to expand your horizons. I really like Chef and My Fridge which is a cooking competition using ingredients from the home fridges of Korean celebrities that is just a really fascinating format...

Can I use mic with USB plug feeding spoken audio into hdmi video

Uhh, with basic windows functionality "yes" but I don't think it'll work right because the microphone will pickup the audio from the speakers and just you know, loop i until it's a loud screeching mess, unless you get one of those proper microphones for it that only pick up when they're right in...

Am I better off by deleting my Facebook account?

it's not so much deleting it, as it is making it private (so only people who know your email address can find it) and not using it for everything. Only family and real friends, not the fake friends or work friends. It's easier to communicate with your actual social group over facebook, but it...

Asus X54H Laptop Boots to BIOS automatically

Maybe... see if the BIOS has any "wait for confirmation before booting" option or some way to see display the "POST" info for a longer time.

it might be a dying CMOS battery. Is your system clock showing the correct time?

Laptop shuts off while rendering 3D models in any Autodesk software

how do you know there's no heating issue? Shutting off like that while rendering is most commonly caused by the CPU or GPU overheating, and laptops have terrible heat dissipation. It could be a bad battery/power supply as well. Try a graphics card stress test/benchmark to see if that also causes...

Amazon Echo Spot Review: Alexa Just Killed Your Alarm Clock

I got an echo dot for the bedroom, when I wake up I just mumble out a few times (until I speak loud enough) "alexa, what time is it" to find out the time. A screen doesn't really help much, not at that size, when i can just ask the time or date or weather.

Ask an Expert: Virtual Reality with Sherri Smith

Here's a question you may not be able to answer. I'm nearsighted, so i can see clearly things that are about 3 inches from my face. (If I were to heavily read a book, I may take off my glasses actually and get the book that close because it's easier on my eyes) But I have to wear my glasses to...
