Laptop screw sizes PM2.5×5.0 vs M2.5×5.0

Hey, thanks! I appreciate the effort. I went ahead and got these - partially because they're a mixture of sizes, so hopefully next time I'll have what I need, but primarily because I got them overnight with Amazon 1-day delivery. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011EFAB8K/ In case anyone...

Laptop screw sizes PM2.5×5.0 vs M2.5×5.0

I'm working on restoring a HP DV2000 and find myself once again in a bind. The laptop came without a hard drive. I sourced a hard drive, only to realize that the laptop was also missing the SATA adapter and the drive caddy. Then I sourced that, only to find that the caddy only comes with 4...

HP Pavillion DV2000 CMOS checksum error

yes, except I've never seen a color picture of it, nor that particular splash screen. It was delivered here without a hard drive and I've been battling to figure out if it is worth repairing.

HP Pavillion DV2000 CMOS checksum error

If I leave the aforementioned lptop off mains power and the battery runs down, I get the error message that there was a CMOS checksum error. If I press F1, then the laptop boots up but time/date is reset. On desktops, I'd guess that this means the CMOS battery needs replacing. All my Googling...

Can I use two laptops as a dual monitor?

Yes, but not easily. You can telnet in from one computer to the other THen each would be a monitor on the same computer. Slow response though. You'd also have to use the keyboard of each laptop for the respective monitor...

Skype turning it's own volume up in volume mixer (Win7)

Did you check if Skype has any options in it's own settings? As with the other responders, I've never heard of this.

Multitude of issues caused by water damage

It's an issue with all newer models of laptop computers. To be as thin as possible, their construction has been complicated. In many cases all components - including hard drive and battery are soldered to the motherboard, leaving no user-replaceable parts. So they make the assembly such that...

Multitude of issues caused by water damage

I guess your laptop isn't one of the Lenovo spill-resistant models? I'd also guess you don't have the extended warranty that Lenovo offers? and it's not covered under any other warranty program? A day might not have been enough time to dry out, but then fir the same token, an electrical...

Powerful Laptop ? Fruity Loops and demanding software.

Why would you ask *after* you purchased it? That can only lead to disappointment. Use the Notebookcheck.net site and see if they have a review of a similar model. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Laptop_Search.8223.0.html#results

Hey I'm looking into buying a laptop for collage, just wondering what's the different between an 3gen i5 and a 4th gen i5 ?

the 4th gen i5 will have slightly higher speed, better battery life, graphics and a lower heat output. Get that by all means.
