If its just for charging, you dont need emi shielding. Shielding is used to prevent interference with data that is going through the cable. But since you dont have data going through it, Youll be good without shielding.

Have you opened the laptop to make sure the cooling fan and heatsink are clean? Have you replaced the thermal paste on the cpu and gpu? Try those and see if the laptop performs any better
