I personally don't have experience with network anti-virus software, but what about AVG Antivirus Network Edition? I also don't get why you want to remove the agent after every scan, wouldn't it be safer to keep them active on your computers?
What indicates that Adobe (Photoshop? Illustrator? After Effects?) isn't fully compatible with SSDs? I don't see anything wrong with installing Adobe on your planned raptors.

Personally, a good alternative is Avast Home Edition. Though I don't see why you can't spend a few bucks or so on AV. It's worth it!
Does AVG Free take advantage of multi-core setups? I'm thinking a CPU upgrade so that my daily scheduled scans for lunch go faster. It usually gets done by 1:30 PM!
