This is a really good laptop for the price, your getting 6gb ddr3 ram and an Amd A8-6410 Apu. That will do most of the things you will want to do on the go.

I would say that upgrading would be the better route here as the Samsung 840 Evo is a really fast ssd and plus the 8gb of ram would feel as if you had just bought a new laptop. Hey it will probably be even faster then a new laptop.

I would think that the orange light only comes on when you put the charger in but it might be that you have the power button set up so when you shut down it only puts it in sleep.
