I have tried running it without the battery, it works initially, then as the machine appears to be running up the hard drive it cuts out. Also interestingly the a/c adapter symbol does not appear on the screen and the battery charging symbol also goes out when i turn it on!. Is there a voltage...

i need to force my toshiba satalite 50 to run on mains power only, it charges the battery but WONT run on the mains adapter. Grrrr
