satalite 50 need to make it run on mains adapter

i need to force my toshiba satalite 50 to run on mains power only, it charges the battery but WONT run on the mains adapter. Grrrr

I don't think there is a setting or program for it. Just take the battery out of your laptop but keep the mains power plugged in. It will run on that.

I have tried running it without the battery, it works initially, then as the machine appears to be running up the hard drive it cuts out. Also interestingly the a/c adapter symbol does not appear on the screen and the battery charging symbol also goes out when i turn it on!. Is there a voltage control regulator with some form of Zenor diode set up on the main pcb?. Obviously it goes without saying that the internal surface mount 12amp fuse on the main board is okay as obviously the battery wouldnt receive charging current!, which clearly it is. Do you have access to the circuit diagram of this model. I am an engineer with an Hnc in electronics, but unforunatly i have no access to a scope, only normal meters etc.

You can try to check the voltage of the adapter. The battery will not work if the 12A fuse is open.
