You might try disabling the low power usage in the Nvidia control panel. I had some issues in certain games with that on, where it would get lower frame rates than my 3 year old card, and even hangs/crashes to the game not even loading.

It sounds like your mic boost might have gotten disabled. Right click on the volume control on the taskbar and go to recording devices, double click on the microphone you're using, and click on the "levels" tab, there you can set your mic boost. Ramp that up and see if it helps. Other than...
