chromebooks cant run PC games out of the box, only web based games. there are ways around it if your technical, but they are not designed to do this. also, they have much less processing power than windows pc, so you can expect a below mediocre gaming experience.

what desktop do you have (model number)? there is almost always an audio jack on the back. i would definitely confirm that if you havent. also what OS are you running? win 10?

i wouldnt recommend soldering your board. usb to ethernet is a much cheaper, much less risky option that will work fine.
