Solved my own issue. I retasked the connector in Realtek audio manager by right clicking the Aux input icon on the right and selecting retask connector. Then I set it to Headset/Microphone.

Hello everyone, I'm trying to get my headset to work with my laptop. It works perfectly fine on my desktop. The headset works, as I can hear audio, the laptop however will only use the internal microphone and will not list the headset as a usable option in my recording/playback devices...
