In case anyone else comes across this problem. I popped the battery out and put a laptop cooling fan under it and it fixed the issue. I guess it was overheating (which is weird).

I'm trying to restore it to factory settings with the disc. Followed the steps until it restarted and started the recovery process, but it never seems to reach 25% on the progress bar before it shuts down (or maybe goes into sleep mode, I can't tell). It doesn't seem to stop on the same spot...
