Try disabling the palm-check (or palm tracking) option or tuning it down to minimum, from mouse settings in Control Panel and see if it helps.

UPDATE 2: Issue came back 10 minutes later, still looking for answers.

UPDATE: Touchpad driver issue had to uninstall and reinstall the latest Synaptics driver from hp support site and Voila! everything is back to normal. :D
