Find a copy of an older driver online somewhere, I'm sure there are links out there. Remove the existing driver completely. Possibly need to reboot after removing it before you install the new (err older) driver.

Asus has a similar model with a gtx 1060 and a 120Hz TN panel. The MSI doesn't state what refresh rate the monitor has but it's an IPS panel. So the MSI might have a nicer screen visually, but most gaming monitors tend to be TN panels due to the faster response time...

Can you take the player home and try it on your tv? I have (or had, my brother has it now) a sony projection tv I bought in 2007 and its hdmi works with newer blueray players. And if you do have to buy a new player, they're way cheaper now. I bought one a few years back on sale for $40.

Even if you connect them to the PC, it won't really do much good without any amplification. PC speakers are powered, yours are just speakers. You'll get some sound but it would be very low, like hardly audible. You can buy cheap, mini amps on amazon but you're going to need something.
