Sadly there aren't many games for linux. You would need windows in order to play the majority of games. There are programs for linux that has Windows API and can run most windows games on linux but at that point, just use windows for gaming.

All depends on your budget

Weak graphics card and cpu is your main culprit, Ram doesn't affect performance to to much and upgrading your system ram doesn't help performance with a weak graphics card and cpu.

Is there a reason why you need an Apple computer? If not, you could find much better deals without having to pay for old technology.
