hmmm.... you could get hi-jack this and remove anything that you don't remember putting on your computer.... also you could use an (AVAST) Anti-Virus program and (Spybot S&D) Anti-Spyware...

I've used GhostSurf and Hide my IP.. those work altho you have to pay for them.. they work great.

In some cases that happens in others it just dies... I have a few that have done that... due to being bumped while writing data to the drive... my old lady dropping if off her lap on to the floor... I would back up data and replace ASAP....
